Every Friday night belly dancers from the Arabesque Dance Company perform to the live accompaniment of the breathtaking Arabesque Orchestra. The dancing is hot. It’s also an opportunity to hear Arabic music performed by some of the finest musicians around. Artists include Bassam Bishara on lead Vocals and Oude, Walid Najjar on Keyboard, Eddy Suleiman Violin, Khaled Maotassem back up Vocals, Suleiman Warwar Dumbek, Milad Daher Riq and Katim, George Barbas Dohola and Sebastian Gatto Katim.

Music Africa presents Toronto’s 21st annual AFROFEST, a celebration of African music and culture. Afrofest is a multi-focus event of song, dance, theatre, food, a marketplace, and activities for youth and children. Featuring traditional and contemporary styles of music by top international touring acts and dozens of African performing groups from across Canada. The festival has grown every year. In 2009, three different outdoor stages will come to life with music and dance. Come to Queen’s Park and discover Africa in the heart of Toronto! Jaivah’s Rumbi and Saba will be holding an Afrofusion and an Ethiopian Gurage dance workshop at the Youth Zone. Drop by and learn some dance moves to show off at the mainstage.
