Andalusian World Fusion: Mel M’rabet

mel mrabet world music saba sabina rumbi fumu jahmez african dance toronto canada andalusian flamenco north african dancers jaivah nouvel exposeBatuki Music Society and the Gladstone Hotel team up together for the 3rd year to present the World Concert Series that takes place on the first Friday of each month. The concerts are free events featuring a diverse lineup of performers with a strong focus on African music.

This one is featuring Mel M’rabet Blending Andalusian-North African folk melodies with Flamenco, blues, a sprinkle of Jazz and compelling grooves, M’rabet creates compositions that reflect the richness of the Canadian cultural climate and he contributes to the performing arts landscape in his community and nationally. Mel M’rabet will be performing with award-winning percussionist, music educator and artistic director Rick Lazar and Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Chris Gartner on bass guitar.

Event also features a Jaivah Dance Showcase featuring Fumu Jahmez.
